Celebrate Canada's 150

In celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, Zista Arts Society highlights how the diversity of our country encourages exploration of other cultures. Our performances will showcase the limitless creativity enabled by our multicultural society.

Sitarist Chris Hale brings a wealth of knowledge, skill and passion when playing the sitar - a staple instrument in Indian classical music, culture and art.

Ugandan-born bassist, Ian DeSouza, blends the musical genres he’s experienced in Canada and all over the world, including funk, soul and reggae.

The GuruBros include Canadian-born musicians Santosh Naidu and Gurtej Hunjan. They will create a collaboration of sound based on their roots in the east and the west through the tabla, world percussion and electronic music.

Canadian-born Kathak dancer Joanna DeSouza and her group, the Chandham Dance company, will be completing this compelling performance. Her expert training, tutelage and attention to technical detail has made her one Canada's top Kathak dancers & teachers.

We look forward to sharing these performances with you on July 1st at 1 pm at the ROM in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday.
